Are You Ready to Step Into the Season God Has for You?

Change isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it’s exciting—like a new job, a new relationship, or a new opportunity. Other times, it feels like the rug has been pulled out from under you. One day you're settled, the next you're wondering how you’ll get through the week. No matter what kind of transition you're facing, the question remains the same: Will you step back in fear, or will you step forward in faith?

The Bible is full of stories about people facing new seasons, but few are as vivid as the one in Joshua 1. After 40 years of wandering in the desert, the people of Israel were finally standing on the edge of the promise God had made centuries before. But before they could step into it, God said something that feels as timely today as it did then:

“Be strong and courageous… Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” — Joshua 1:9

That promise still holds.

Every new season begins with a necessary ending. Before Joshua could move forward, God made it clear: “Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready…” (Joshua 1:2). It wasn’t cold or callous. It was a declaration that the past chapter, though honored, was complete. Sometimes, we try to cling to what was, even when God is calling us into what is. But the presence of God is not behind us. He’s ahead of us, calling us forward.

And stepping into that next season? It will stretch your faith. New territory always brings new resistance. Israel had to cross a flooded river and face fortified cities. You might be facing a flood of doubt, fear, or even grief. But here’s the truth: God's promises don’t come with ease, but they do come with presence. And His presence is everything.

“As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.” — Joshua 1:5

God doesn’t just send us forward—He goes with us. Jesus, our greater Joshua, leads us into the promises of God not with fear tactics or distant instructions, but with personal presence and power. He knows the weight of transition. He walked through death itself to bring us into eternal life. He understands the fear and the questions that come with change. And by the Holy Spirit, He gives us the strength to step forward—even when the path ahead is unclear.

The key? Holding tightly to His Word.

“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night… then you will be prosperous and successful.” — Joshua 1:8

You don’t have to guess your way through your next season. You don’t have to let the loudest voice on your feed become the guide for your future. The Spirit of God still speaks through His Word—and He will give you a fresh word that strengthens your soul, anchors your mind, and aligns your steps with heaven’s direction.

So, are you ready?

Are you willing to let go of what was so that you can take hold of what is? Can you trust Jesus not just to know the way forward—but to walk it with you?

New seasons will bring new challenges. But they also bring fresh opportunities to see God move in new ways. Whether you’re crossing a river of uncertainty, facing a wall of opposition, or simply trying to find your footing, this remains true:

You are not alone.

The Lord your God is with you. And if He says it’s time to arise and go, then you can go with confidence—because He goes with you.

  1. What kind of season are you currently in—one of comfort, change, or uncertainty?
How do you typically respond when life shifts unexpectedly?

  2. Read Joshua 1:2–9. What stands out to you about God’s instructions to Joshua? What does it mean for you personally to “be strong and courageous”?

  3. Talk about a time you sensed God calling you to let go of something. How did you know it was time, and what helped (or hindered) you from stepping forward?

  4. What does trusting God’s presence look like in real life?
How can we become more aware of the Holy Spirit walking with us in everyday decisions?

  5. What practical steps can you take this week to stay grounded in God’s Word during a season of transition or resistance?
(Example: creating a Scripture playlist, journaling a promise from God, spending 10 minutes meditating on a verse.)
